Hattuvaara is a village in Ilomantsi municipality in the province of Eastern Finland, about 40 km north-east from the municipality centre and near the border with Russia.

Combatant’s House in Hattuvaara

The House offers restaurant services and an exhibition on military history. Artefacts are exhibited indoors, and outside there are artillery guns, a dugout and an opportunity to watch a short film. A shelter for the artillery guns was built in the vicinity of the house in the summer of 2012.

Nearby, there’s a path for taking a military history walk in the scenery of the last days of the Ilomantsi battle. This is where the last stage of Soviet offensive was halted in July – August of 1944.

Sotaveteraanien muistoksi 1990-luvulla rakennetussa Taistelijan Talossa on ravintola, museo ja näyttelyjä.

Taistelijan talo Hattuvaarassa

Talossa on ravintolapalveluiden lisäksi sotahistoriallinen näyttely. Esineistöä on sisällä ja ulkona mm. tykkejä ja korsu ja mahdollisuus katsoa lyhytelokuvia. Talon pihapiiriin valmistui kesän 2012 lopulla tykkikatos.

 Taistelijan talon tuntumassa on myös Ilomantsin taistelun viimeisiin päiviin liittyvä sotahistoriallinen polku. Sen tuntumaan pysähtyi Neuvostoliiton suurhyökkäyksen viimeinen vaihe heinä- elokuussa 1944.
