Ever since 1996, the Texel light ship no. 10 museum has been an absolute eye-catcher in Museum Harbor Willemsoord on the Oude Rijkswerf Willemsoord in Den Helder.

Description

What is special is that the now beautifully restored ship is a stone's throw away from the slope where it was launched in 1951.
After this, the light ship off the Dutch coast would be a reliable beacon in the sea for forty years. It is now a shining center of attention for a special museum ship collection.
A vessel with an interesting life course that has been restored with great care and love by volunteers from the History of Coastal Lighting Foundation and is therefore preserved as a unique maritime heritage for the future.

Bijzonder is dat het inmiddels prachtig gerestaureerde schip op een steenworp afstand ligt afgemeerd van de helling waar zij in 1951 van stapel is gelopen.
Hierna zou het lichtschip voor de Nederlandse kust veertig jaar lang een betrouwbaar baken in zee zijn. Thans vormt het een lichtend middelpunt van een bijzondere museale schepencollectie.
Een vaartuig met een interessante levensloop dat met veel zorg en liefde is gerestaureerd door vrijwilligers van de Stichting Historie der Kustverlichting en hierdoor als uniek maritiem erfgoed voor de toekomst behouden blijft.
