Different authoratative sources give either 1948 or 1949 as first date of manufacture.
The last date of manufacture is definitely 1949.
This model has a 'sister' set, model 17T11 which is identical except for color. The 17T11 is black Bakelite and the 17T12 is brown Bakelite.
Rider's manual uses the Admiral model 19A1 chassis schematic for the 17T1 chassis as well, but experienced restorers report that there are significant electronic differences.
