  • AWA Radiola Model D73 (AWA's first 25" TV)

A de luxe 25" console TV receiver, supplied with "Selectasound" sound control unit. Cabinet on castors, finished in walnut, maple or mahogany. Illuminated green channel numbers. Knobs, trim and escutcheon, anodised gold and black.

Features: Super Radiotron Type 25LP4 picture tube provides the viewer with an additional ⅞" each side over that provided by 23" types. With the extra width, the overall picture is then masked so that the width to height ratio (aspect ratio) is 4:3. All transmissions by Australian TV stations originate as 4:3 ratio, Model D73 therefore provides an accurate reproduction.

Speakers: one 9", one 4". Controls: front-mounted - channel indicator; channel selector, on-off button, sound, picture; sound outlets. Rear: contrast and tone, vertical and horizontal hold; fine tuning.

"Selectasound" is an extension hand unit with sound control. The hand unit's plug is inserted into either of two jacks in the receiver, each having a different function. The hand unit contains a volume control, extension speaker and two jacks, one for deaf-aid, one for personal earphone.

Sound outlets on set: speaker on set is muted and sound from hand unit only; both hand unit and receiver's internal speakers are active; or with receiver switched off, speakers in the receiver may be used as extension speakers for portable tape recorder, radio or record player, etc.

With receiver operating, the signal may be used to operate the hand unit and extension speaker or a tape recorder, etc. (FROM MINGAY'S PRICE SERVICE)
