  • Modelo: Anode Table Receiver - Anode Wireless & Scientific
  • Forma

  • Anotaciones
  • A distinctive early British broadcast receiver introduced at the All‑British Wireless Exhibition in October 1922. The Anode Table Receiver was designed as a piece of domestic furniture, with the entire wireless set enclosed inside a polished wooden table. A falling side panel provided access to the controls and components, and — unusually for 1922 — the cabinet incorporated a built‑in loudspeaker, making the set a self‑contained unit without the need for a separate horn or cone speaker.

Alongside the table model, the company exhibited its “Unit System”, a modular construction based on the firm’s patented variometer and precision mica‑dielectric condensers. The system comprised:

    • Unit 1: Patent Anode Variometer Tuner (350–500 m)
    • Unit 2: High‑frequency amplifier (one valve)
    • Unit 3: Detector unit with rheostat and potentiometer
    • Unit 4a: Low‑frequency amplifier (two valves)
    • Unit 5: Telephone transformer for low‑resistance headphones

Users could assemble a receiver progressively, beginning with tuner and detector units and adding amplifiers for greater volume. The integrated loudspeaker in the table model represented an early attempt to produce a “living‑room friendly” wireless set, anticipating later radiogram designs.
