Similar in design and functionality to the more common 4052, the 4120 is a relatively simple 2-tube set with no provision on the board for AF amplification. Instead of the three tube T/A used on the 4052 the 4120 replaced the T/A with just the detector island. Comprising a detector, an RF amplifer, an RF transformer, a potentiometer, and a Type 11 tuner, the 4120 was designed to be used exclusively with headphones. The radio was sold through AK dealers, but it was ordered from the factory (and assembled there) strictly on an as-needed basis, and since few people in 1923 were looking for a radio without AF amplification, very few of these sets were manufactured.
