Homebrew crystal radio using a Part No. 4200 Type 2A Crystal Detector and a Part No. 3741 Variometer.
A similar assembly is shown in Douglas I, page 73, with title "Ralph & Elinor Williams". Those boards were made by local entrepreneurs and also radio amateurs and private persons.
Alan Douglas wrote:
"While Atwater Kent never sold a complete crystal set, local entrepreneurs did, using his parts. The few that were made in the factory, were donated to hospital patients. Kent did make electrical and mechanical prototypes for two crystal sets, the size of a type II tuner base, one of them using a compression tuning condenser, but the project was abandoned."See also US patent 1'679'310, filed May 28, 1923 for a Detector Apparatus.
The crystal detector for this set is likely a fake, so we created a separate model page as a variant for it.
