  • Annotazioni
  • The Trophy 2 was the inaugural model in the Trophy series.
It quickly became the flagship product, renowned for its battery-powered operation and headphone-only output.
The Trophy 2 gained national attention when F. Lanaway used a duplicate set to log 247 stations between 12–52 metres, winning the American Short-Wave Trophy—a feat heavily featured in the company’s marketing. Its simplicity, sensitivity, and portability made it a popular choice among early shortwave experimenters and listeners in the UK.

    Key Features

    • Battery-Powered Portability: Designed for use where mains electricity is unavailable, this unit is ideal for field and portable operation.
    • Headphone Output: Optimised for headphone listening, it provides clear and sensitive reception, making it perfect for DXers and experimenters.
    • Frequency Range: The unit comes with two BTS One-Shot inductors covering 12-52 metres. Additional inductors are available to extend the complete wave range from 6.5 to 200 metres.

    Design
The Trophy 2 was a TRF (Tuned Radio Frequency) receiver, typical for its era and purpose, offering straightforward operation and excellent performance for its class.

    The Trophy Series
The Trophy 2 was the foundation of a growing series, which soon included the improved Trophy 3 (AC & Battery Models), the advanced Trophy 5, and the top-tier Trophy 8—each building on the strengths of this pioneering model.
