  • Anotaciones
  • A mechanical wheel operated ten tube NTSC color converter for monocrome TV sets.

Parts kit costs $19.95 in 1965 (+$1.00 for 16" sets).

Compare the system with the Color Converter Inc. Col-R-Tel Converter 100-1.

This kit contained only a handful of the harder to find parts for the color converter. Most of the parts had to be provided by the builder himself. The Colordaptor was introduced in 1955 according to the manual for the adaptor, and was mentioned in a 1956 article in Radio-Electronics magazine.

The Colordaptor works by using a single color demodulator. The angle of demodulation is varied once per field of video by a tristable switch. When a blue filter segement of the wheel is in front of the CRT, it demodulates the B-Y signal. When red is in front of the wheel, it demodulates the R-Y signal, and likewise for the green. These color difference signals are mixed with the luma inside the gun of the monochrome CRT.
