  The Crosley Pup was first advertised in September 1925. The image on the side of the Crosley Pup cardboard shipping box, and the operating instructions, say to use a WD-12 tube. All Crosley ads show the late version WD-12 that appeared in 1925 with a large bakelite base having long pins, and a glass envelope with straight sides and a round top. Those sold west of the Mississippi River were probably purchased with the equivalent Cunningham C-12 tube. Tipped WD-12 tubes were discontinued before the Crosley Pup was produced.

  Many collectors believe the Crosley Pup circuit is the same as the Crosley 50, but they are slightly different. The Pup has a 12 ohm rheostat while the Crosley 50 has a more universal 25 ohm rheostat. The Pup's 12 ohm rheostat doesn't have enough resistance to allow a 5 volt 1/4-amp 01A tube to operate within its lower operating range, but it is perfect for the older UV201 and UV-200 1-amp tubes and also the WD-12 1/4-amp, 1.1 volt tube that it was designed for.

crosley: Pup 'Sky Terrier'

Das Bild ist das Maskottchen von Crosley: Pup (= junger Hund, Hundebaby) namens Bonzo, die Karikatur eines jungen Skye Terriers.

Das kam so: ein Kleingerät wurde Pup genannt. Preis $ 9,75 (1925). Crosleys Radiostation WLW brachte zur Werbung auch eine Girl group namens "the Crosley Skye Terriers" und dazu in der Ladenwerbung die Figur des Bonzo, geschaffen von dem Britischen Cartoonist George Studdy. Bonzo war zuvor schon in Europa populär. Es gab Bonzo-Bücher und Spielzeug, und Filmsternchen ließen sich mit Bonzo fotografieren. 1925 wanderte er dann über den Teich  und  wurde zu Crosleys Emblem.
