  • This is a circa 1913 Radio Telephone & Telegraph Co. early RJ-4 which uses a 3-point tap switch left of the Audion for B-battery control. The later “Improved Type RJ-4” of the DeForest Radio Telephone & Telegraph Co. uses a 5-point tap switch. Note also that the Radio Telephone & Telegraph Co. was formed by Lee DeForest in December 1913. That company name was only used for 10 months until the name was changed to the DeForest Radio Telephone & Telegraph Co. in Oct 1914.

    The later version of the R.J.4 Audion Detector used five tap switch points to adjust the high voltage for the wing (plate).
