  • Notes
  • Dynatron Type FM1 tuner unit. This has been designed to deliver about half a volt to the pickup terminals of the firm's radiogramophones, or any high-quality amplifier, and a power pack is available in cases where the main amplifier cannot supply the required LT and HT.
There is much to be said for a separate FM unit since the designer is free to choose the best valves and circuits for the purpose. Switched pre-tuned circuits for the Home, Light, and Third programs have been favored in preference to continuously variable tuning, which can produce unpleasant sounds during the tuning process. Particular attention has been given to frequency stability. In addition to normal precautions against thermal drift, a separate reactance valve is provided to give automatic frequency control in conjunction with a Foster-Seeley detector.

It allowed for three pre-tuned stations in the 88 to 95 MHz band, and the oscillator was on the low side of the signal.

The price in 1955 was £18/-/- and a separate power supply was available at £6/15/-.
