  • Remarques
  • The 598 III Troubador was a stereophonic as well as quadriphonic record playback system. It was sold as single unit, including the motor basement with pneumatic suspension and belt drive, the 990 arm and the 4000DIII quadriphonic cartridge, with or without the walnut base and dust cover. Performances were exceptional at all. The rumble figure was -90 dB RRLL, the wow and flutter under 0.1%, the tracking error less than 0.650 degrees, the arm resonance under 6Hz. Such figure were possible due to the exceptional care in selecting the proper materials and in the extreme craftsmanship: to have an idea, the main bearing was made of two parts, one in microhoned self-lubricating bronze and the lapped, hardened, stainless steel shaft, individually matched. The Empire 4000DIII cartridge, went up to an unbelievable 150KHz with a tracking force of as little as 0.5 gram.
