Notes | Models: 86 and 87. (RADIO ELECTRICAL WEEKLY 26/1/51) Features: Compact 7V 6v or 12v B/C car radio, designed especially for late model vehicles, including small English & Continental cars, but also suitable for larger American vehicles. Model 86 (illustrated) fits easily into glove box or shelf below dash of most English or Continental cars; choice of speakers (5¼" to 8") in separate spun steel housing. Model 87 of similar construction, but dial on main unit is replaced by panel (with pilot) to which remote control cables are attached; main unit mounts out of sight; matching dial for for mounting on dash panel available to suit all well-known post-war cars; universal type dial can be supplied to fit under edge of dash if necessary. Speaker (5¼" to 8") to fit behind dash grille or in spun steel housing to mount on bulkhead. Valves: 6BA6, 6AN7, 6N8, 6AV6 two 6AM5 or EL91 in push-pull output stage, 6X4 "High-Low" battery control: drain on "Low", 2.5A 6V or 1.5A 12V; on "High", 6A or 3A, for max. volume while battery is receving high charge during high speed driving. Socket for connecting P-U, S/W adaptor, microphone, etc. Whole chassis slides from case for easy servicing. Finished in chromium trimmed brown brocade enamel. Dimensions: 7" x 5¼" x 5"; weight, 8 lbs 15 ozs. Retail Prices: Model 86, with 6" speaker and housing, £46/18/10. Model 87, with dashboard dial and speaker fittings, £47/6/2. |
