  • The decremeter was developed by Frederick Kolster between 1912 and 1914. The device measures the rate of decay or decrement of wireless transmission waves. Ship inspectors could use a portable version of the device to measure the rate of decay on their ships as part of the new regulations on maritime wireless communications put in place after the sinking of the Titanic.
