• The 3-band VHF Transistor Portable Gauers VHF 6221 was the US-model of the Gauers VHF 6220, for Longwave 200 - 400 kHz (Weather stations and radio beacons could be received), Broadcast 515 - 1620 kHz and the VHF amplidude modulated air band, 107 - 135 MHz. It was assembled in Switzerland by Gauer, based on the Minerva Allegro 621 made in  Austria.

  The set was distributed by Scot-Air Inc. Illinois. It was the successor of the Gauers VHF US.

  Das Gauers 6221, eine Variante des Minerva Allegro 621, mit Langwelle, Mittelwelle plus VHF-Bereich von 107-135 MHz zum Flugfunk-Empfang (Amplituden-Modulation mit dem für AM angepassten Ratio-Detektor). Da es in den USA keinen LW-Rundfunkbereich gibt, wurde dieser Empfangsbereich angepasst auf 200-400 kHz, so waren Wetterstationen und Funkbaken empfangbar und mit Hilfe der Ferritantenne peilbar. Als Hilfe dafür gab es einen drehbaren mechanischen "direction finder" Knopf auf der Geräteoberseite. Erreicht wurde diese Emfangsbereichverschiebung allein durch einen angepassten Abgleich. Die LW-Emfangsspule wurde bis an den Rand der Ferritantenne verschoben und hatte somit nur noch die benötigte halbe Induktivität.

  Das VHF US-Modell wurde durch Scot-Air, Morton Grove, Illinois vertrieben als Nachfolger des Gauers VHF US.
