  • The General Radio type 200B Variac is a small panel mounted autotransformer rated at 1 ampere continous (1.5 ampere max)  or 170 VA.  It has an optional adjustable stop that can limit its wiper travel.  Separate connections are provided for 0-115 volts or 0-185 volts.  The description can be found in General Radio's 1936 catalog.  The direction of rotation for increasing voltage can be reversed in this model.  General Radio patented the Variac and was the original owner of the trademarked name.
