The GE P-1940B is a portable AM/FM radio with car capabilities has the following features:
- It is an updated version of the GE P-1920, which was introduced a few years earlier.
- A locking car mounting bracket was included (however, it is primarily a portable radio)
- Dimensions are with radio in bracket. Radio alone is slightly smaller.
- 6" x 4" oval PM dynamic speaker.
- Uses 4 C cell batteries.
- Antenna connections on left side of cabinet, near bottom.
- IF: AM 455 kHz, FM 10.7 MHz.
Known differences between P-1920 vs P-1940B:
- P-1940 has rotary knob controls for volume and tone instead of thumbwheel controls.
- P-1940 has a dial light.
- P-1940 says "Solid State" instead of "Musiphonic" on the speaker grille emblem.
