  • Notes
  • The General Coverage Receiver Hammarlund HQ-150X has still single conversion - very similar to HQ-150 - we don't know yet the differences between them. Coverage is 540 - 31000 kHz in six ranges. S-Meter, BFO, Noise-limiter, Bandspread 80 - 10 Meters HAM-Bands, Calibrator, etc. The HQ-150 features a ¼" Head. Jack • S Meter • Q-Multiplier • Antenna Trimmer • RF Gain • ANL • AVC ON/MAN • Calibrator 100 kHz • BFO ±2 kHz. • Bandspread • Mute contacts • Speaker Terminals • Dial Lamp • Hinged Cover • Flywheel Tuning. The tubes have the following functions: 6BA6 RF Amp, 6BE6 Mixer, 6C4 HF Osc, 6BA6 1st IF Amp, 6BA6 2nd IF Amp, 6BA6 3rd IF Amp, 6AL5 Detector/AVC/NL, 12AX7 1st AF Amp/BFO, 6V6GT/G Audio Power Amp, 0C3 Voltage Regulator, 5U4GB Rectifier, 12AX7 Q-Multiplier and 6BZ6 Calibrator. We don't count the Voltage Regulator 0C3 as a tube. Requires a speaker. Ranges: .54-1.32, 1.32-3.2, 3.2-5.7, 5.7-10, 10-18 and 18-31 MHz. Bandspread 80 to 10 meters. The HQ-150 features a true Q-Multiplier with both peak and reject. It has a very flexible filter system. Two toned gray metal cabinet. The HQ-150, the HQ-150X were the last of the large single conversion Hammarlund general coverage receivers. The HQ-160 has double conversion.

Usually Hammarlund used the letter 'X' to designate a model which included a crystal calibrator, and the letter 'C' to describe models including a clock. The letter 'A' usually meant a significant circuit upgrade.
