The Heathkit AD-2002 is a Stereo-4 Decoder (quadraphonic matrix decoder) originally released in the early 1970s.

Heathkit AD-2002 Overview:
The AD-2002 was designed to decode matrix 4-channel quadraphonic sound, specifically the Stereo-4 (EV) system developed by Leonard Feldman and Jon Fixler. 
Function: It allowed users to convert a standard 2-channel stereo signal into a 4-channel quadraphonic experience. 
Kit Format: Like most Heathkit products, it was sold as a kit for hobbyists to assemble themselves, complete with a detailed assembly manual. 

Availability: Today, these units and their original manuals are popular items on eBay and other vintage electronics marketplaces.
