Material | Metal case |
Shape | Book-shelf unit. |
Dimensions (WHD) | 425 x 127 x 278 mm / 16.7 x 5 x 10.9 inch |
Notes | Integrated stereo amplifier. Very rare item (only 500 were made, for HP employees, their relatives and friends). Output 2 x 80W continuous in 8 or 16 Ohms (4 Ohms not recommended). Inputs for Tuner, Tape, Aux 1, Aux 2 and Phono (optimized for Shure V15 II). Sensitivity phono: < 5 mV, signal-to-noise ratio 84 dB (referred to 1 V output). Sensitivity other inputs: < 1 V at 100 k. Signal-to-noise ratio of power amplifier 100 dB (compared to max output). THD < 0.01% from 2 mW output to max. power at all frequencies. Volume control with dual precision attenuator, 60 dB range, 2 dB steps. Eliminates need for separate balance control. Tone controls (treble, bass, range +6 to -6 dB) Stereo/stereo reverse/mono L/mono R, dual mono operation also possible (separate use of each channel) Noise filter: corner frequency 5 or 8 or 20 or 100 kHz, 18 dB/octave, with 30 dB notch at 10 kHz in the 5 and 8 kHz positions NB Barney (Dr. Bernard M) Oliver was HP's vice president for research and development, and the designer of this amplifier. This explains the model name. He is also the author of an article entitled "Distortion in Complementary-Pair Class-B Amplifiers" which appeared in Hewlett Packard Journal, February 1971, Volume 22, Number 6, Pages 1-6. |
