  • Annotazioni
  • In 1983, HP introduced a new range of HPIB programmable pulse/function generators developed in HP's German facility in in Böblingen. Model 8112A is a 50 MHz pulse generator.

In the 811x series, HP used custom-developed bipolar analog ICs for signal generation and shaping that are controlled by a processor through a number of D/A converters. All parameters including rise and fall times are programmable via the HPIB, and some can also be controlled via a control voltage through a front panel input, e.g. 0–10 V → 0–100% pulse width. Because of the analog signal generation, however, timings are not "digitally" precise.

The 8112A is a compact unit with tightly sandwiched boards interconnected through ribbon cables - a base board contains signal generation and output stages, the middle board is essentially a multi-channel D/A, and the top board contains the CPU, display/keyboard control, and HPIB interface.  For troubleshooting and calibration, the middle and top boards can be placed upright.

    Pulse period: 20 ns - 950 ms

    Pulse width: 20 ns - 950 ms

    Delay: 65 ns - 950 ms

    Timing accuracy: +/- 5%

Transition time: fixed 5 ns, linear or cosine 6.5 ns to 95 ms (max. 1 : 20 edge ratio)

    High level: -7.9 V to +8.0 V / Low level: -8.0 V to +7.9 V  (into 50Ω)
