  • Anotaciones
  • A Mantle Only radio from the HMV stable. Previous models bore the designation "Little Nipper" but this has only the model number. It has an elliptical speaker measuring 5 by 3 inches with an impedance of 15 Ohms. The case is simulated timber with a black front. The radio has a short wire protruding from the rear of the case for an external aerial connection but the RF earth connection is via the Mains Lead. Indicating it's later development, the chassis earth is negative. The push-pull output transistors are specified as a "Matched Pair" and whilst the other transistors are silicon, the output pair are germanium.

Plastic cabinet finished in Red, Charcoal, Ivory & Teak (Woodgrain).

Electrically indentical to the eariler HMV Little Nipper 66-55. For service details see HMV Service Manual for Model 66-55 or J.R. Transistor Service Handbook Group C6, 1969, page H53.

See also HMV Clock Radio 67-55 with same circuitry.

The circuitry starts with the 66-55 but that has a rotary dial pointer. The 67-55, Clock Radio and later variants use a linear dial.

The last variant, the 68-55/2 uses the same case and fascia but has all silicon transistors. The transistor count grows to 8 with the revised output stage.

See also the HMV (NZ) Sprite which has the 66-55 circuitry, the rotary dial pointer but a particle board timber case.
