• Model 41-50 is a 6 transistor portable receiver designed for broadcast band reception from 525 to 1635 kc/s. It is housed in a moulded ABS plastic cabinet.

  This is getting to be a genuine "Pocket Portable" but the pocket needs to be reasonably large.  At 5 mm square, the IF transformer cans are minute and are dwarfed by the transistors beside them. The Oscillator Coil base is, however about 11 mm square. Other miniaturization efforts include the earphone jack being the 3.5 mm variety.

  The schematic shows that the AGC line is taken off between the detector diode and the Volume Control.

  Dating is by the transistor types. No silicon transistors are used and the RF/IF transistors are the later, germanium, AF types.

  The output transistors are yoked by a copper hearsink that is close, but not touching, R25, the NTC resistor designed to prevent thermal runaway.
