The powerful four-stage amplifier used with the system makes use of six tubes, including 2-53's, 1-57, 2-2A5's. and 1-83-V rectifier, giving a gain of 97 db at 150,000 ohms. Output is full 15 watts, with only 9% harmonic content. Hum level is -48 db below maximum output, or 1/60,000 of the total power output. The frequency response afforded covers the entire audible range, being essentially flat from 50 to 10,000 cycles per second. One of the features contributing to the marked superiority of this amplifier over others of similar nature, is the inclusion in the circuit of a built-in, two-position electronic mixer. Two high-gain channels are provided, the mixer supplying a stage of pre-amplification for each channel, so that two crystal microphones can be used simultaneously. The reproduction from both mikes can be mixed together at will, or if desired, only one channel can be used at a time. Other features include the use of a full range, continuously variable tone control permitting cut-off of high frequencies to suit individual acoustic conditions and minimizing feed-back troubles. The use of plug-in type connections simplifies setting up and taking do wn of equipment, and prevents any possibility of inproper connections. All controls, tone and gain, have graduated dials with arrow pointer knobs. The amplifier is housed in a sturdy leatherette covered carrying case (as ilustrated) 18" by 9½" by 13" high, weighing 38 lbs. Two powerful 12" high-fidelity auditorium type speakers are furnished with the system. They are fully excited and at maximum sensitivity at all times, insuring the utmost in wide range, high-fidelity reproduction. The use of 500-ohm transmission lines makes possible the placing of the speakers at any distance from the amplifier without appreciable loss in volume or quality. Each speaker is supplied with 50 feet of heavy-duty, rubber-covered cable. Speaker openings in the case are protected by crystalline black finished, steel screen grilles, and provided with external "roll-up" leatherette flaps which can be removed entirely.
