  • The Lafayette catalog calls this model range under "Custom built" 7 tube All Wave Super Het with the models B-21 (chassis with LS), B-22 (mantel) and B-23 (console) plus on page 21 a B-48 as a phono combination console. Lafayette writes: "Here is a new 7-tube Hi-Fidelity All-Wave receiver that is truly a "Radio Robot". Turn the dial to indicate the station your want - and it automatically excludes the stations you don't want. ... Its automatic sensitivity control - sometimes called automatic volume control - instantly adjusts the sensitivity of the receiver to compensate for the strength of the station being received. ... A twist of the "high-fidelity" control and the LF band width widens automatically so that all of the high frequencies that add to the crispness and defenition of musical reproduction come through. The All-Wave is a 7 tube AC 3 band Superhet which has an RF amplifier (tube 6K7) for all waves. Wave length is 18,300 - 5,750 kc (16.4 - 52.2 m), 5,800 - 1,715 kc ((51.8 - 175 m) and 1,730 - 535 kc (173 - 560 m). The models are not listed at Rider's but we believe it is the chassis Airline 62-190 from Montgomery Ward. Lafayette calls the dial "Accurate Logging Micrometer Dial". The "second-hand" pointer provides an effective band-spread on allwave bands. Ratio is 16 to 1 and the regular dial pointer has a drive ratio of 30 to 1. Tone control with a fidelity within six decibels from 100 to 5,500 cycles.

We believe that Montgomery Ward had the chassis for its models 62-180, 62-182, 62-185, 62-187, 62-190, 62-196 and 62-246 from Wells-Gardner. But the prefix does not tell the manufacturer.

The B-21 chassis with a 3 gang tuning condenser incl. tubes and 8" speaker has a list price of $ 67.00 and Lafayette asks for $ 33.50; the mantel B-22 $ 73.90, Lafayette price $ 36.95 and the console B-23 is list price 93.90, Lafayette $ 46.95. They can be had for 220 volts for 40 - 60 cycles for addl. $ 2.00. See details for the models of this catalog or summaries.
