The Lafayette Loftin-White 245 Push-Pull Amplifier, 1933 Model, is the result of several years of development. Previous models using the older tubes gave widespread satisfaction, and now Lafayette engineers, after months of experimenting, are pleased to announce the use of some of the newer, higher gain tubes.
A clean cut, straightforward circuit characterizes this amplifier. The initial stage uses a type 57 tube, coupled by the famous Loftin-White method to a pair of 45's in push-pull. The high amplification and absolute clarity of this reliable and time-tried combination leave nothing to be desired. An 83 mercury vapor rectifier supplies plate voltage. This new type rectifier has a very low internal resistance, and the regulation characteristics of the power system are exceptionally good.
The undistorted output of the modernized 245 Push-Pull Amplifier is four watts, enough to drive four or five dynamic speakers at full volume. This output is just about right for dozens of popular classes of public address operation: medium size theatres, skating rinks, dance halls, auction rooms, small swimming pools, etc. The low price brings this unit within the means of many prospective purchasers of P. A. systems who were scared off previously by the high cost of other makes of amplifiers of equivalent capabilities.
Reproduction that is comparable with the highest priced amplifiers on the market. Even when using the maximum power output of this amplifier the superb tone is maintained the same as when operating at lower levels. Designed upon the most advanced of present-day engineering principles, it is positively in a class by itself in the field of sound amplification. Oversize parts are used throughout, but the whole unit measures only 12" wide, 7" deep and 7 1/2" high. Built for continuous operation, and is therefore ideal for public address or intercom call systems which must be kept "alive" all the time. Breakdown of any of the parts is practically unknown. In its manufacture only components of the very highest quality are used insuring long and trouble-free operation.
