Car Radio for Ford De Luxe and Popular. The metallised SG215 works for the 1st HF stage, the metallised VS22 for the 2nd HF stage, the metallised L2D is the detector, the metallised L2 the driver and the double triode BB240A for the class "B" output. The model is created by reading this post only.
The model has AVC (Automatic Volume Control) on both the HF valves, using the diode-triode detector. The detector is resistance coupled to the driver duo-triode valve. The field winding for the electro magnet moving coil type loudspeaker is used for reducing the low tension voltage to 2 volts and to act as a choke in the low tension supply. The dry battery can be run down to 80 volts to be of 200 to 250 hours service. The high tension battery has to go under the driver seat. Reading between sockets: A& B 60 volts, A & C 6 volts negative, A& D 135 volts and A & E 6 volts negative.

A BRITISH CAR RADIO SET
WHEN one considers the efficiency of British radio components and valves, it has always been remarkable that none of our manufacturers had thought fit to enter the market. The series of sets announced by Lissen, Ltd., of Worple Road, Isleworth, Middlesex, are therefore of particular interest. As is usual in car installations, the moving-coil speaker is carried under the dash, the controls, which have large and easily manipulated knobs, are carried on the steering column, while the set is accommodated in a small steel case carried beneath the floor boards. The valve filaments are heated from the car batteries, while the H.T. is obtained either from dry batteries or from a converter which works from the car lighting circuit. Six valves are used in the first case, but only five are required with the higher voltage derived from the converter.
Both long and short wave ranges may be received, automatic volume control keeps the output constant even in the vicinity of steel buildings, bridges and other deflectors of radio energy.
While the undistorted power-output is two watts, in less technical terms this means that the power is ample to fill a large dining-room, 30 ft. by 30 ft., at a high standard of quality, and comfortable reception should be possible even in an open car driven at high speed.
Suppressors for the sparking plugs are provided, and filters prevent interference from the commutator of the dynamo. Fitting is quite a simple job and can be undertaken by any competent mechanic. The battery models (6 or 12 volts) cost 16 guineas, while those fitted with generators cost 20 guineas.

Plus there was an article in Wireless, Dec. 1934 about "Easy to install". But also in Wireless, volume 1, No. 1, December 1934 an article about "Non-Stop Music for six Weeks! This was about the library at Broadcasting House with over 37'000 gramophone records.This was followed on the same page by "Radio on the road". It tells us that Philco showed a seven-valver using mult-purpose vaves, with 5 watts output via a Class B stage. But namded Ekco Co. and also Lissen. Lissen sold two models, one at 16 and the other at 20 guineas, for battery or generator power supply.
