Crystal Receiving Set No. 2

The No. 2 Meccano Crystal Receiver was the constructional version of the No. 1 set, designed for experimenters and builders wishing to assemble their own receiver. It directly followed the RS1 and RS2 crystal sets of 1922, continuing Meccano’s educational approach to radio construction.

The set used the same tuned circuit and crystal detector principle as the No. 1 model, but was supplied as a kit of parts in a strong carton, with or without headphones. Meccano promoted it as “specially adapted to the requirements of those who wish to carry out simple experiments.”

It could be operated under an experimental licence obtainable from the Postmaster General for 10 shillings, and was suitable for reception of telephony and Morse signals within 25 miles of a broadcasting station.
