  • The Megger BM8/2 is a battery-powered, analogue insulation tester used for measuring very high electrical resistance. It's designed for routine insulation resistance checks on various components like motors, transformers, and electrical wiring.

    The instrument applies a high DC voltage to a circuit to measure leakage current through insulation. By using Ohm’s law, it calculates insulation resistance: high resistance shows good insulation, while low resistance indicates deterioration, moisture, or damage.

    • Insulation Testing: The primary function is to measure insulation resistance, which is a key indicator of an electrical system's health. The meter measures resistance up to 20,000 MΩ (megohms) at 1000 V DC.
