  • Anotaciones
  • The Megger BM8/2 is a battery-powered, analogue insulation tester used for measuring very high electrical resistance. It's designed for routine insulation resistance checks on various components like motors, transformers, and electrical wiring.

The instrument applies a high DC voltage to a circuit to measure leakage current through insulation. By using Ohm’s law, it calculates insulation resistance: high resistance shows good insulation, while low resistance indicates deterioration, moisture, or damage.

    Key Features & Specifications

    • Insulation Testing: The primary function is to measure insulation resistance, which is a key indicator of an electrical system's health. The meter measures resistance up to 20,000 MΩ (megohms) at 1000 V DC.
    • Multi-Voltage Capability: It offers five DC test voltages: 50 V, 100 V, 250 V, 500 V, and 1000 V. The ability to select different voltages makes it versatile for testing various equipment, from low-voltage electronics to higher-voltage circuits.
    • Analog Display: The BM8/2 has a taut-band suspension permanent magnet moving-coil type analog display. This provides a clear, continuously moving needle, which is useful for observing trends and fluctuations during a test.
    • Power Source: The unit is powered by six 1.5V dry cells (HP7 or equivalent). A built-in battery check function allows the user to verify the battery condition before a test.
    • Discharge Function: After a test, the instrument has an automatic discharge feature that safely removes any stored charge from the circuit under test, preventing a shock hazard.
    • Rugged Construction: It's built into a durable ABS plastic case, designed for reliability in harsh environments.
    • Safety Features: The device is built with safety in mind, complying with standards like IEC 1010-1. It also has features that alert the user to the presence of external voltage on the test leads.
