The Paton Clip-On Ammeter with a taut band suspension in the meter movement, incorporates a current transformer with hinged arms to clamp around a cable or busbar. The arms form the primary winding of the transformer and the current flowing is indicated on the meter.
The maximum cable size that can be clamped and measured is 2 5/8” and 3¾” by 1” for busbars.
