    Model "A" Most Promising Performer

    Campaign Planned to Benefit Dealers

Philps Lamps (A/sia) Ltd., announce the release almost immediately of the first of their new 1934 Radioplayers which shows every promise of being a profit maker for all those who participate in the distribution of same.

The first release consists of the Model A, which is a 5 valve superhet., selling for a retail price of £25/10/-. Philips have planned their campaign to distribute these through the recognised dealer trade, and on such terms and conditions which will make it an attractive proposition. It is understood that Philips will arange the financing of the hire purchase sales for and on behalf of dealers, and on a very reasonable basis.

A preliminary inspection of this new Model A Radioplayer reveals that considerable thought has been given to the design of the complete instrument, so that prospective purchasers, particularly the ladies, will be most favorably impressed with its appearance. As to its performance, while opportunity has not permitted a complete test of its functioning, it is understood that the Model A will not only hold its own against the best that is available, but should certainly outclass quite a lot of receivers which are even sold at a higher price.

Philips' engineers believe that what comes out of the instrument is far more important to the owner than all of the technicalties that might be offered in a lot of "ballyhoo" advertising. The average person does not understand much about pentagrids or any other multi-element valves, nor do they as a rule, understand the technicalities of any other part of the equipment, but they definately do appreciate and demand an instrument that will play the radio programmes in as faithful a manner as is possible for a radio set to do.

    Will Stimulate Sales

The name "Radioplayer" appeals immediately to the layman, and it is a name which will become more imprinted on the public's mind in the course of the next few months than ever before. As typically Philips - they will not just put out the Radioplayer and let the dealer do all the work, but their carefully planned publicity campaign will stimulate sales to such a degree that there should be very little selling left for the dealer to do.

Philips have not neglected the necessity to provide a reasonable margin of profit for the dealer, and in fact they have given consideration to, and provided for practically all the difficulties which the average dealer comes up against in his daily efforts.

It is certain that this proposition will be investigated by radio dealers right throughout the Commonwealth, and being experienced men, they will quickly determine the possiblities in this new Radioplayer by Philips.
