  • Remarques
  • Radford Electronics' Model VH2 Band I & III Distribution Amplifier was a sophisticated device designed for television signal distribution in the late 1950s.

The VH2 consisted of two separate amplifiers, one for Band I and another for Band III, each with independent pre-set gain controls. These are fed into a combiner unit, allowing for the simultaneous amplification and distribution of both VHF television bands.

    Output Configuration

    • 9 attenuated output sockets
    • 1 full-gain output socket for feeding distribution systems
    • Attenuated sockets could be used individually or simultaneously without affecting other outputs

    Performance Specifications

    • Gain:
      • +15 dB per channel at maximum output socket
      • 3 dB per channel at attenuated outputs (when loaded to 80 ohms)
    • Bandwidth: -2 dB per channel
    • Power Output: 0.2 V into 80 ohms per channel without cross-modulation of video/sound carriers
    • Isolation: Better than 22 dB between sockets

    Input/Output Characteristics

    • Input: 80 ohms, separate coaxial socket for each channel
    • Outputs: 10 total (9 attenuated, 1 full gain)

    Power Supply
Mains input with tapped transformer for 200/240V AC operation

    12 guineas (as of 1959)

Radford Electronics' VH2 amplifier built upon their earlier expertise in RF technology, which began with their Television RF Pre-amplifiers in 1948.
The VH2 showcased their growing proficiency in both audio and RF, offering flexible installation with full-gain and attenuated outputs for diverse distribution needs.
