The 454ME and 454DME share the same 5‑valve superheterodyne chassis with Weston visual tuning, AVC, static reducer, tone control and matched dual loudspeakers.
The only difference between the two models is the cabinet. The 454ME was supplied in Raycophone’s “modernistic” cabinet, while the 454DME used a traditional “Old English” style cabinet manufactured by Beale, the Australian piano company known for its high‑quality furniture work. Electrically the two sets are identical.
