  • With the formation of RCA in 1919 the new RCA cross-licensing agreement allowed United Fruit/Wireless Specialty Apparatus to now produce the SE-1420 for commercial users and have them sold by RCA (RCA hadn't created a division specifically to handle all maritime equipment and operate coastal communications stations - yet.). For the new commercial market, the designation of the receiver was changed to IP-501. A matching two-stage audio amplifier was now available, the Triode Type-B Amplifier.

    The device was advertised in Atlantic Radio Co.'s 1919 Catalog, but the tube UV201 was only late in 1920 available.
