My unit came withou the battery cover lid (Sony part 3-383-852-01) and back stand (Sony part 3-893-839-11).
Looking around the the usual auction sites, I could not find any Sony spares. Also I did not want to buy another similar radio model to be used as spares.
So, why not design the parts myself and send the project files to a 3D printing service?
That was an opportunity to use a 3D printing design software for first time. Long story short, I ended up spending more money than buying another radio for parts, and the end result was not perfect either. But it was worth just for the fun of it.
I have chosen Black PETG for the plastic material, as it offers the best strenght at the lower cost, compared to the more expensive ABS offering by my local 3D Printing service.
I have installed the free to use 3D CAD Modeller OpenSCAD version 2021.01 to create the two missing parts designs and exported the STL files to be uploaded to the 3D Printing service website.

After opeing this Sony ICF-SW30L I found a defective electrolytic capacitor in the power supply close to the audio power amplifier.
This is C56, 330uF/6.3V, from the well known and respected Japanese brand nichicon.
The capacitor is exploded, and it looks like it was subjected to a high temperature, probably caused by overvoltage coming from an inadequate external power supply adapter.
Or it was just a "bad apple" in the capacitor batch?
Anyhow, I have replaceed it with a similar unit but with an higher working voltage because I could not find an exact match in my spares box. The original capacitor is very small in height (around 7mm) but there is plenty of verticaal space in that region of the chassis, so I installed a 12mm cap, the smaller I could find.
