Mini Disc Audio pocket recorder/player

Similar to MZ-R30 but with electronics / software improved and some changes in the metallic case and lettering. Case: silver or metallic blue.

Record and play MiniDiscs of 60 or 74 minutes in audio stereo or mono (120 or 148 minutes).

Disc rotation: 400 to 900 rpm (CLV- constant linear velocity).

Audio Coder:  Sony ATRAC.  ACIRC error correction

Shock-resistant memory.

Maximum number of tracks: 254.

Shuffle, repeat, program play modes, auto-resume, backlit LCD display for disc name, track name, time and VU  meter.

Track divide, combine, swap, erase.

Titling functions: Track (200 chars max) and Disc (1800 chars max).

Date and time memo.

Digital Mega Bass boost.

AVL- Automatic Volume System –to protect ears when earing through headphones.

Bit Rate Used - 292 kbit/s; the first ATRACK algorithms, were designed in 1992, to be close to CD quality, acoustically.  Later ATRAC was improved and is generally considered better than earlier versions at similar bitrates. 

Frequency Response: 20 Hz to 20000 Hz  -3 dB

Sampling rate: 44.1 KHz but has a  sampling rate converter for digital audio input/output with  32 kHz or 48 kHz of sampling rate.

Runs on either a LIP-12 Lithium ion rechargeable, or 2x LR6 alkaline batteries placed in an external supplied battery case.  External power jack (6 V).

Charging time is 2.5 h (80%) and 5 h (100%). 5 hours continuous record on LIP-12 and 8 h on playback.
