  • In June 1956 SONY produced the TR-6. The TR-6 is the first very slim and elegant transportable set of SONY. The Sony TR-6 uses probably the first time the revolutionary MITSUMI polyvariable tuning capacitor.

    See also the similar looking U.S. models Solaradio P411 and P410 (without solar cells in the handle), made by Hoffman Radio Corp., Los Angeles, in 1957. For both models Sony made the cabinets in 4 different colors. However, the circuitry and parts (US origin) are totally different compared with the original TR-6.
