  • The Stewart Warner model 51 is an 11-tube, 4-band receiver.  It is housed in an unusual and handsome wooden, 5-legged lowboy cabinet with two electrodynamic speakers.  On the shortwave bands, it operates as a dual-conversion receiver.  The knobs are solid brass.  The dial face shifts up and down when the band switch is changed, so that only the frequencies of the currently-selected band are visible in the escutcheon window.  Made in the USA.

    This radio receives 4 bands including BC 540-1550 kHz, SW1 180-80 meters (1.67-3.75 MHz), SW2 80-33 meters (3.75-9 MHz), and SW3 33-14 meters (9-21 MHz).

    The two speakers are not identical.  The "Low" speaker is model RL-209-A, and the "High" speaker is model RH-209-A.  Some versions of the R-105A chassis have a 5th position on the band switch to select a phonograph input.
