  • BC (540-1600 kHz), SW (8.8-12.0 MHz bandspread) and FM (42.0-50.0 MHz) bands. Six station buttons, tuning eye, push-pull audio amplifier. For 50 to 60 Hz AC.

    FM tuning range is from 21-99 on the dial.  These values are FM station numbers, similar in concept to TV station numbering.  The FM station assignments 21-99 correspond to frequencies from 42.1 to 49.9 MHz.

    After restoration, tested amp performance with HP8903B analyzer. Lowest THD was 0.94% at 1kHz.  This occurred at about 750mW output.  The maximum setting on the volume control produced 9.6W, and the corresponding THD was approximately 10%.

    Chassis has an external "bass resonator" that creates a broad peak in the frequency response, measured +7.5dB @ 100Hz.  

    Bass and Treble controls interact, and pre-date the Baxandall design.  Treble control action set to max produces +2dB peak at 5kHz; at minimum it produces a steady roll-off above 1kHz; down 7.9dB at 8kHz.  Bass control set to max produces +8.7dB peak at 100Hz and when set to min produces +2.4dB at 100Hz.  

    The radio sounds very rich and warm.
