  • Sony Superscope Stereocorder was the first Sony tape recorder sold in U.S.A. Supersope. In 1955, the four brothers Tushinski, owners of Superscope company,   producers of the Superscope process for film industry, visit Sony in Japan and saw the world first integrated (with built in power amplifiers) compact stereo tape recorder -  "Sony 555". Superscope licensed the distribution and production of this and other Sony tape recorders in U.S. A. The Stereocorder was produced in 1957 in U.S.A. using  American and Japanese components, under licence of Sony Corporation of Japan and a licence of a magnetic recorder patent of Armour Research Foundation. The Stereocorder is a stereo two tracks tape recorder using magnetic tape with 1/4" of width and accepts reels of 7 " diameter. It is a "portable" luxurious tape recorder within a solid wood case, lined with a fabric/vinyl combination, using several engraved brass plates; case corners are reinforced with thick black leather.
