  • Notes
  • Professional Analogue  two channel Tape Recorder, was introduced in 1997 and was produced still in 2004. This recorder was one of the latest professional recorders produced. It has three magnetic heads with two tracks on tape width.

It is a robust machine made by Tascam (professional division of TEAC) working with an extremely precise control of the tape movement.  It uses magnetic tape with ¼” of width and accepts reels of tape with diameters up to 10 ¼”; conventional reels, NAB reels and pancake reels of tape with 11.1”.

Standard tape speeds available are: 7.5 and 15 ips. Variable tape speed is provided by the pitch control of ± 12%.

There are two versions: BR20T with time control (TC) and BR20 without TC. TC search may be done for three time events.

This was the last tape recorder produced by Tascam and Teac. Tape mechanism control  is based on a microprocessor; it has a parallel port for digital interface.

Wired remote control is available through parallel digital interfaces.

Recorder may be configured for rack mounting, mobile cart or stand alone. Both BR20T and BR20.

Both models use two VU meters.

Frequency response of the recorder is extremely flat, 35 Hz to 22 kHz at 0 VU, for tape speed of 15 ips.

The SNR is excellent; ranges from 72 dB to 79 dB (NAB A weighted).
