Der S 500 ist vor allem bekannt und hoch gehandelt wegen des Ortofon-Tonarmes, welcher großes Ansehen genießt. Der Spieler hat eine recht ausgefeilte opto-elektronisch gesteuerte Endabschaltung mit Liftfunktion. Bei Interesse unbedingt auf funktionierenden Lift achten, verharzt oft.
