Bearcat Scanner BC-50XL

The Uniden Bearcat BC‑50XL is a compact 10‑channel handheld scanner introduced around 1985. It belongs to Uniden’s early generation of fully synthesised portable receivers, replacing the earlier crystal‑based Bearcat models. The BC‑50XL provides 10‑band coverage, direct frequency entry, automatic lockout, track tuning, and a custom BNC‑mounted flexible antenna.

The model was sold internationally. Its small size, microprocessor control, and straightforward keypad interface made it a popular entry‑level scanner for monitoring public‑service, commercial, and hobby radio traffic throughout the 1980s.
