  • Over 56,000 units of Wurlitzer models 1015 sold! Plays 24 schellacks on one side. Quick start. In standby the tubes are not heated. After a coin is inserted and a selector button pressed the tubes are supplied with 9.8 volt. A relay time delay will swich to normal supply (6.3 volts) after ca.7 seconds. That makes the Amplifier ready before the pickup is set to the groove, since the mechanics needs some seconds to fetch, move and place the record.

    The Wurlitzer model 1015 uses the "Sound System" amplifier 503 with pick-up part No. 34969, Volume Control Unit 45201 and the actual amplifier model 503 for 50 to 60 cycles or model 504 for 25 cycles - and speaker 40161 with field resistance 5200 ohms. The Wurlitzer model 1015 was just falling into the beginning of war and had to wait for manufacturing until 1945 when it was introduced in the Fall 1945 as the 1946 model. It was probably the biggest success and stayed on sales until 1947. The first (highest) digit "1" (of 6 digits) indicates year 1945/46 and a "2" is for 1946/47 run. See at the back of the cabinet.

Verschiedene Stellen, sogar Auktionshäuser, nenen eine Jukebox irrtümlich nach der Nummer des Verstärkers. So fand ich z.B. eine Jukebox Wurlitzer Modell 503, war verwundert und ging der Sache nach, weil ähnlich wie die Wurlitzer 1015 aussah. In der Tat, es ist eine 1015 von 1945 bis 1947, die wohl meist verkaufte Jukebox überhaupt - mit 56 tausend verkauften Einheiten.

Sie hat eine Schnellstarteinrichtung: Die Röhren bleiben im Standby ungeheizt. Nach erfolgtem Münzeinwurf und Drücken einer Wahltaste werden 9,8 V an die Röhrenheizung gelegt. Eine Zeitschaltung setzt nach ca.7 sek. über ein Relais die Heizung auf normal (6,3 V) zurück. Wenn die Mechanik fertig ist mit Entnahme, Transport und Auflegen der Schallplatte und der Tonarm aufgesetzt wird, ist der Verstärker bereits voll betriebsfähig. Nicht gerade ein röhrenschonendes Verfahren, bekommen die doch schon normalerweise einen Einschaltschock.

Der Verstärker 503 ist für 50 bis 60 Hz-Netz, ein Verstärker 504 für das 25-Hz-Netz.
