Description

The double ended prototype of the (UV)199 was first made at the GE laboratories in December 1921. It followed the earlier experimental 199. This tube differed to the earlier experimental type as it had s .06 amp filament current. Also the lead-in wires were about 3 mm long, made to fit special tube sockets. Two of these tubes are in a prototype rceiver made by GE around the same time. Single ended UV199 tubes were announced at the New York Radio Show in December 1922.
