Description

Image storage tube based upon the interation between an electron beam and a silicon-silicon oxide memory target. The tube was patented by Dr. Steven R. Hofstein after he left RCA to found the Princeton Electronics. The patent, US 3,949,264, was filed in March 1974. Used in several applications, including scanners, scan converters, video telephone sets and graphic terminals, the tube was capable of capturing an image with a resolution of 10 million elements in less than a thirtieth of a second and store it for months..

Princeton also listed sophisticated graphic terminals in the 850 System series, based upon Lithocon II storage tube.
