Description

Page no 671 of the fall 1928 issue of the Sears Roebuck catalog announces a new catalog number series for radio tubes, 46XX, replacing the earlier 29XX series. The company sold the standard range of US designed and made tubes and these were made by a few small manufacturers. The "WLS" (Worlds Largest Store) brand was either hot branded into the base of these tubes or a paper label on the glass. Tubes brands in this series were not included in the cataog with the exception of the 4601, which is a Solartron. The 4600 was also listed in the Spring 1929 catalog. The Fall 1929 catalog has an entirely new catalog number and the 4600 became the 57T201A.
