Description This tube has the grid & plate wires split and brought out to four binding posts on the adapter base, so that additional B & C batteries can be placed in series with the grid & plate leads to furnish the proper voltages for power amplification. It was used to replace the usual 01A with a tube similar to the 71A in sets not wired for higher plate & bias voltages. Also type UX112, 112, 12 power amplifier is similar. Van Horne tested each tube and each tube was certified and came with its own individual characteristic curve. The best tubes were shipped to Musselman for resale. This can be seen on the tube by a coin like golden stamp. The second best were sold under the van Horne brand. The others were sold to others. Known names are Air Scout, Thoria and Radiotone.
